HOWDY FOLKS.....IT'S HOWDY-ROO TIME! yes...all pod members are gearing up for The  42nd Annual "HOWDY-ROO" Chili and BBQ Cook off on Saturday May 4th and the Highland Lakes Pod CCO/Backbone Creek on Sunday May 5th.

As you know, sooooo many things to do to get ready for such an event.  Raffle items have been purchased, goody bags are here, permits and park done and the winners chairs are in and Karen at "Threads and Needles Creations" of  MF will be donating the embroidery again.  "Thank You" Karen.  "Thank You" SOT Pod, they will be running the chili judging on Saturday and will setup for the Saturday night potluck.  Your help with running tables, monitoring, etc. will be appreciated.  Carrie and Ruby have been buzzing around town getting trophy sponsors and everything they can squeeze out of our local
merchants while Fred and Melba are receiving vendors calls.  Carrie is also working on the cooks meal on Friday evening.  She ask pod members to bring a snack/horsdoeuvres about 6:15 PM.  Gateway Villa/Gardens will donate, setup and serve the deserts for the cooks meal at 7 PM.  When you get your desert, please  thank them for their generosity.  Saturday evening about one hour (chili time) after announcements will have potluck and then games and easy listening music.

I'm sure "Boggy" is getting ready for his annual outing.  He loves HOWDY-ROO...he always gets something NEW!  TEE TIME IS Friday at 12 noon this year.  Please contact Kyle Bond at if you plan to play golf.  Carrie will have sandwiches donated by Mr. Reed at Subway for the golfers at the Kinnison Camp before you head out.

We have had a great response for the "HOWDY" shirts this year.  Carrie will be putting the order in on Monday April 8th so if you have not ordered your shirt, please let her know ASP.  Will send out an email as soon as we find out when the newspaper wants to take the HOWDY-ROO pictures for the local news.  It will probably be the week before Howdy-Roo.  We wear our "HOWDY" shirts for this picture and Friday, Saturday or both. S-M-L-XL $7.00  2XL & 3XL $9.00.

I appreciate everyone that has volunteered to help and and all that everyone has done to make HOWDY-ROO a SUCCESS.  If you have not been assigned a particular obligation, please be on standby because there are always things that come up that we may need help with.

Parking for Howdy-Roo starts 8 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1st.  PLEASE DO NOT PARK BEFORE THAT TIME!  Also, please park efficiently and in designated areas.  There are LIMITED electric hookups only.  NO ELECTRICITY FOR AIR CONDITIONERS!

Congratulations to all our chili family that have qualified for TICC.  If you have qualified and have not received your qualifying pin, please remind Carrie to give you your pin.  Good Luck to all on the Chili Trail!!

Sending words of cheer and wishing better health to our loved ones in our chili family who are having some challenging times. May you all recover soon and be on the Chili Trail.  Carrie sends her thanks and appreciation for the many cards, phone calls and the many kind words of encouragement and well wishes.  She is doing good so for with her chemo and radiation with another three weeks or so left, but is not at FULL SPEED.
